Users expect AI to be smart, but they also expect it to be free. Xiaomi's model—offering a generous free allowance—might be a good starting point.

Looking Ahead: Design for the AI Era

HyperOS 4 is Xiaomi's first real attempt at an AI-first operating system, and it shows both promise and growing pains. The AI is everywhere, but the memory isn't yet fully connected. The UI is beautiful, but there's no dedicated AI button—a small ergonomic miss.
